The Challenge
Despite its critical role in supporting the community, Zakat Selangor faced the challenge of making its mission feel relevant and engaging to a younger, digitally native audience. The organisation needed to move beyond traditional, purely informational messaging to create an emotional connection with the public. The objective was to highlight the tangible impact of zakat contributions while addressing social responsibility in a way that felt modern and relatable. They aimed to prove that these contributions are not just financial transactions but life-changing interventions for those in need within the community.
Strategy
Instead of a standard public service announcement, the campaign utilised Sofian’s (@sofyank96) ability to blend high-concept VFX with emotional storytelling to illustrate the impact of zakat. The narrative follows three friends whose twenty-year journey is compressed through a seamless visual transition from a vintage convertible to a modern setting. This "digital magic" serves as a metaphor for the long-term stability provided by institutional support. By revealing that one friend transitioned from a recipient to a Zakat Selangor officer, the content reframes the organisation as a facilitator of human success. Sofyank’s creative direction transformed a complex social system into a relatable tale of gratitude, positioning contributions as a tangible investment in the community's future.
